Built on 40 years of practical, in-the-field experience.

Dr Brett Williams, founder of Strata

“Risk management should be proactive, not reactive.”

Dr Brett Williams is the founder of three companies, namely, Safetech, Future Impact and Milltree. Four decades of practical experience in Health, Safety and Environmental Management led him to the conclusion that the tools available to HSE teams for risk assessments were often outdated or simply too complex for everyday use. To address this challenge, he developed Strata HSE Risk Assessments — a powerful digital tool for HSE management that's simple enough for daily use and rigorous enough to satisfy legal requirements. Strata’s 3 core values:

Team focus

Support for all team structures, Risk Management backed by industry leading real-world experience.

Compliance is not optional, it is a legal requirement.

Legal Requirement

Section 8 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and several separate regulations requires that every South African employer identify hazards well as assess and manage risks, whatever their industry. Other labour legislation has similar requirements (Mines carry an equivalent duty under the Mine Health and Safety Act.)

Why it matters

  • Criminal liability for failing to assess and manage risk
  • Negligence liability for inadequate training or supervision
  • Common law legal claims separate from statutory liability
  • Class-action exposure across an entire industry
